Ontario Public School Boards’ Association condemns anti-Muslim rhetoric and prejudice

3/23/2017

The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association
(OPSBA) joins the Peel District School Board in condemning anti-Muslim rhetoric
and prejudice.

“The schools of Ontario welcome and provide a
safe place for students who practice the very broadest range of religions and
beliefs. As leaders in education we must steadfastly and unequivocally assert
to our communities and to the world that bigotry will not be tolerated.” said
Laurie French, President of the OPSBA. “We must inspire our school communities
to continue to deplore the forces of intolerance and to stand up for justice,
for equity and for fairness.”

The many school communities that make up Ontario have
a long and proud history of celebrating all cultures. We are confident our
communities will point the way toward an Ontario free from hate, from racism,
and from all forms of discrimination.
